To help Think Energy customers make the most of Think Community Solar and complete their enrollment, we need a crucial piece of information: their historic energy usage. In this article, we’ll guide you through three utility bill examples, demonstrating how to calculate and utilize this data effectively.

How to Find Annual Average Usage on Different Bills:

Orange & Rockland Bill:

Step 1: Locate the “Your monthly electric usage” graph on the first page of your bill.

Step 2: Find the highest and lowest usage months (e.g., July 2022 with 2,240 kWh and February 2023 with 800 kWh).

Step 3: Add and divide by 2 (2,240 + 800 = 3,040 / 2 = 1,520 kWh).

NYSEG Bill:

Step 1: Locate the “Your monthly electric usage” graph (usually on page 4).

Step 2: Find the highest and lowest usage months (e.g., January 2023 with 1,950 kWh and October 2022 with 700 kWh).

Step 3: Add and divide by 2 (1,950 + 700 = 2,650 / 2 = 1,325 kWh).

National Grid Bill:

Step 1: Locate the “Your monthly electric usage” graph on the first page of your bill.

Step 2: Find the highest and lowest usage months (e.g., January 2022 with 1,600 kWh and February 2023 with 400 kWh).

Step 3: Add and divide by 2 (1,600 + 400 = 2,000 / 2 = 1,000 kWh).
